Pregnancy before maturity happens to about 300 million children and teenagers between the ages of 2 to 4. It's an event that is saddening and makes the victim, parent, and society unhappy. According to CDC researchers in the United States, 2.9 million women in the United States have a teenage-related pregnancy during their lifetime. There is no occurrence without a reason, this leads to the assurance that a teenage girl doesn't fall victim due to choice but due to many reasons known and unknown. The reasons why a teenager falls victim to pregnancy are thus:
Lack of sex education: Sex education means teaching, training, and lessons related to sex, its activity, and the right time to have it. According to Advocate for Youth, Sex education is the provision of information about bodily development, sex, sexuality, and relationships, along with skills-building to help young people communicate about and make informed decisions regarding sex and their sexual health. Many parents don't teach their children what sex is all about and eventually push their girls to the life challenge of wrong teachings sometimes leading to practical aspects which cause teenage pregnancy
According to debate.org, 93% of people believe that sex should be taught in school while 7% believe it should not be taught. Peace George is a successful businesswoman age 32. Her family is well-developed and high standard of development in every sphere. The successful businesswoman teaches about sex to young girls and happens to be criticized by people for this. She replied to them with this "I was once a victim, others must not be." This leads to the story of Mrs. Peace George. She was born into a family of 3 with their parents. Her dad was a barrister and her mum was a businesswoman who sold jewelry to the wholesalers. At age 12, Peace was exposed to things she wasn't taught at home. She was taught sex by her friends who got her a guy to practice it with. Not knowing she was In her ovulation period got pregnant after the sexual activity. No one was as sad as his father and mother. She became ashamed and lived in depression for 9 months.
She was starved for weeks by her father. When she delivered the baby lived a stigmatized lifestyle but pursued her education and was focused. She went to a good university and studied business administration, served the country, and lived a happy life thereafter. "We will keep training young girls on sex education till the end of the world." She said. The absence of sex education has made young girls fall victim to teenage pregnancy.
2. Poverty: The economic rate of pregnant girls increases on a day-by-day basis. At the end of 2019, about 193 million experienced acute hunger in the world. The overwhelming effect of poverty on teenage girls influences them to be a victim of sex and then pregnancy. About 21 million teenage girls aged 15-19 years become pregnant each year and the prevalence of teenage pregnancies is 95% higher in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) compared with high-income countries. It's sure that with the presence of poverty, there will be teenage pregnancy.
3. Family Maltreatment: About 40%of teenage girls face the issue of family understanding and maltreatment. Such a teenage girl comes In contact with a guy who feels loved and it ends with pregnancy. This is the issue faced by many girls in that world. Nearly 250,000 babies were born in 2014 by teen moms according to the US Department of Health and Human Services. Favor a young girl who is a victim of teenage pregnancy has a remark about her parent to the world that maltreatment like beating, hunger and not being given enough attention added to her problems which pushed her to teenage pregnancy.
The 14-year-old teenage girl never felt loved because of her parent ‘ motive that showing enough care affects the way a child respects you. This ideology made them treat her as if she were not important.
There are Lots of reasons why teenagers fall victim to pregnancy at the early stage of their life. Precaution is needed as much as encouragement for the victims and other closely related ones.
Teenage pregnancy is not a stigma that cannot be eradicated. Don't fall cheaply do it.
